Hello there! So we’re going to be talking about a very important topic today, which is how to get more Yelp Ratings and Reviews. You’re probably wondering how to go about doing this. Yelp is something that a lot of people are talking about and you might just be wondering if it’s relevant to you as an insurance agent. It most definitely is relevant because 92% of consumers read online ratings and reviews to determine if they want to purchase a local product or service. So to begin getting more ratings and reviews on Yelp, you’ll need to start by claiming your business listing on Yelp. You can do that by going to this website www.biz.yelp.com and it will walk you through the steps on how to claim your business listing. Now, the most important thing to do in order to receive more ratings and reviews is to optimize your page so that people can find you. In order to optimize your page, when you claim your business listing, you’ll need to include the following information:  Your website, address, phone number, etc. Basic business information such as the address and hours of operation.  Include at least ten photos. Businesses with at least ten photos receive more ratings and reviews, and they can also be found more easily when people are searching for terms like “Los Angeles insurance” or “Los Angeles life insurance” when they go to Yelp.  Describe your business. There’s also an option to recommend like-minded businesses so that other businesses might also recommend you. So maybe Realtors and other insurance agents that handle business that you don’t handle, for example. Also, remember to respond to all of the reviews that you get on Yelp. If it’s a positive review, say “thank you so much it was a pleasure working with you.” If it is a negative review, definitely come up with a game plan before responding. Do a little research to find out what that person’s beef with you is, and then craft a response that is civil and professional. You don’t want to send out an angry response, because then you end up looking like the bad guy on Yelp. So definitely craft a professional response. Some more tips on how to get more ratings and reviews:  Share your positive reviews on your social networks. There is an option when you log into your account to share your positive reviews on your social network, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, things like that.  Ask happy customers to leave you a review on Yelp. This is very important, so you want to get approximately one Yelp review per month. The research that Yelp has done shows that businesses with one to five reviews have greater visibility in the Yelp searches. However, you don’t want to get too many all at once, and you don’t want to have too few. A good steady pace is one per month. If you have more than that, it looks suspicious to Yelp, and they will take them down. So, ask happy customers to do write a review for you. Ask that they do it outside of your office so that Yelp doesn’t think that you’re writing to review yourself. Also, request a “Find us on Yelp” sticker to post on your office door or window.
